Credit Union Miracle Day, Inc. (CUMD) took first place honors in the 2009 CUNA Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Awards. Since the 2001 inception of our organization, we have donated $3.6 million to Children’s Miracle Network in support of Children’s Hospitals nationwide.
“We are so very proud of this achievement and look forward to another exciting race year,” said Juri Valdov, Chairman of CUMD. “We are fortunate to have 22 active volunteer board and committee members from 14 credit unions and related organizations who work hard to accomplish our mission: to support Children’s Miracle Network and raise awareness of the credit union difference.”
The award will be presented on February 24, 2010 during CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C. If you are attending the GAC, stop by our booth (#138) in the exhibit hall.
The April 11th Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run® is completely sold out and closed to the general public. However, sponsor credit unions and business partners are entitled to Guaranteed Race Entries as a benefit of your sponsorship level. You can request codes or printed forms by clicking here, while supplies last. Runners have until March 1, 2010 to register.
Michelle Carter, Official Race Volunteer Coordinator, has issued instructions to register your individual volunteers. The names of your volunteers must be entered into the online database no later than March 1. If you have not received these instructions, or if you have more than 15 volunteers, contact Michelle at michelle@cherryblossom.org. If you have less than 15 volunteers or need more information, contact info@cucherryblossomrun.org.
And thank you for volunteering to help on race weekend! The credit union spirit of people helping people shines at this event. Whether you are providing water to 15,000 thirsty athletes or helping at baggage check, your time and effort is noticed and greatly appreciated. Remember: we recognize the most spirited credit union volunteer team with an annual award, so we’ll be watching you!
Way to go Prince George’s Community FCU for raising $1,745 in January! “Many of our members get paid three times in January, therefore we offered them the opportunity to skip their loan payments that month for a $25 fee, with $5 of the fee earmarked for Children’s Miracle Network,” said Polly Quinn, the credit union’s VP of marketing and business development.
